Doggie Sweater - on a StickCat!
Crazy I know. But I didn't have a big enough stick and who else am I going to get to model this? I don't do dogs. I had to chase Ripple around the apartment to get a photo of him in it.
Love the attitude, eh? Stick your tongue out at me will ya. Vile cat. Where's your manners?
Gratuitious butt shot.
Belly shot! See that seam up the center? I added a couple rows of single crochet edging to it to add a bit of room (the dog has a 21 1/2" chest and I barely got it to block to that). If all goes well and I get this sucker dried by the time I leave for knit group tonight, Donald will have this at his station when he gets to work in the morning.
I don't think that'll happen though. This sucker took a while to dry for it's initial blocking pre-ribbed edging.
Details:
Pattern: You know that book "Puppy Knits" - I based this off the directions for the cover sweater but said screw it to the fair aisle.
Yarn: Paton's Classic Merino Wool in Leaf Green and Russet Less than a skein each.
Needles: US Size 6 for the body, 4 for the leg ribbing and 5 for the rest of the ribbing.
Started on Friday November 24 - body finished same day and laid out to block. Edging and seaming done Monday & Tuesday November 27th and 28th.
Model: Ripple. The unhappy cat.
Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Ripple is at home right now planning ways to kick your ass.
Wuhahahahahahaha! Look at him! Hee hee!!! I don't know what's cuter a dog in a doggie sweater or an unhappy cat having to wear a doggie sweater?
ReplyDeleteWhat's going to be even funnier--is the reciepient dog I'm sure will have fun sniffing Ripple on that sweater!
Well done!!!
Hey -- at least Ripple was gentleman enough to cover his "dot" for the gratuitous butt shot!
ReplyDeleteGreat work! Are you sure Ripple doesn't want to keep it?
That is a SCREAM. Thanks for the smile this morning. :)
ReplyDeleteThe sweater looks great and man, that is one patient cat!
ReplyDeleteHehe...Ripple the dog sweater modeler! Nice job there!! I love the color combo!
ReplyDeleteBwahahahahaha! Poor Ripple!!
ReplyDeleteCute sweater, though - nice stuff!
Ripple is such a sweetheart to put up with having to wear dog clothes!
ReplyDeleteThe sweater looks great, too!
It makes Ripple look like a frat boy.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors.
Nice sweater! Ripple is so preppy and a great sport!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lucky dog!
Nice job! Ripple is totally like Emma. No matter what, everytime I get the camera near her she tries to run away, and if I do get a picture, she's pretty much flipping me off with her eyes. Pets, they can be so moody!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww so cute.. I love the green color.. it's the kind of green I can never seem to get right when dyeing.. The pics are a hoot, too!! Chasing Ripple..heheh
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine why kitty was running away from you....after all the doggie sweater is lovely, and we all know how much cats love dogs.....
ReplyDeletebut the sweater does look good!
Cristi,
ReplyDeleteI don't think your cat is too pleased with you right now!
Cute doggie sweater ;)
Jo
That sweater is awesome, and Ripple will look great when he takes it to the bowling alley with that blue bowling ball bag . . .
ReplyDeleteI admire you for getting that on him--my mini dachshunds won't tolerate clothes at all.
Neko took one look and said, 'Not in your dreams, Two Legs with Sticks.'
ReplyDeleteGreat sweater and a brave, brave effort.
Your photo made my day. OMG, I'm still cracking up.
ReplyDeleteI've seen it all now! Poor Ripple. I can just imagine Morris' face if you'd tried it on him.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a candidate for stuffonmycat.com
LOVE IT! Ripple is definitely leaving a nice fresh hair ball on your bed while you're at work today. Kitty Karma is never pleasant.
ReplyDeleteGret job on the sweater tho and I love the color.
OH! The indignity! I'm calling PETA.
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely hilarious!
ReplyDeleteI love it.
It actually looks pretty cute on Ripple...the green and brown are his colors!
What a good looking cat! Looks a bit pissed though. Isn't there a rule about not being allowed to dress cats up?
ReplyDeleteI am sure the dog will love it though :-) It's really cute.
Cool sweater - I was thinking about making dog sweaters for my cats so it's good to know they work!
ReplyDeleteHa ha! Love the photos!! I'd also say screw it to fair aisle for dogs, but I'm loving the completed sweater!!
ReplyDeleteAnd can I add, the last comment I made, in entering the word verification, the last letters were "sexstar" hmmm...
ReplyDeleteRipple looks awesome.. and oh so fashionable!
ReplyDeleteThe cat is drugged, right? 'Cause I can't see getting a piece of clothing on a cat any other way.
ReplyDeletei want to poop all over that cat...and then season it with special herbs. then i will play a mystic drum.
