2nd Verse, Same as the First! It's Yarn Pr0n Friday again!
Last week, there was one hank missing from the photo shoot. I mentioned an incident involving a bottle of shampoo and a hank of sock yarn. Well, it's dry and retwisted into it's hank and ready for it's close-up Mr. Demille.
Cherry Tree Hill Supersock in Country Garden
This will be a pair of Christmas socks for the sister with the ginormous feet. Her birthday is in September, but I have a feeling I'll need a bit longer. So it'll be Fuzzy Feet for her Birthday, and socks for Christmas.

Sock Bag!
Last week, I couldn't take it anymore. These bags were popping up all over the blogiverse, so I finally broke down, and made arrangements to get one of my very own. A sock bag by trek. Yes, the same trek that won the bamboo yarn a couple weeks ago by scoring perfectly on my quizzy thing.
And you too can have one of your very own. Just have a look-see over on her blog through her gallery and make her an offer! I got mine for a couple skeins of sock yarn. Easy-peasy and totally worth it. I love it! Now, you ask, what's inside?
2 socks. One is Hedera, from the Spring Knitty. I'm trying it toe-up. My first sock pattern conversion. If I'm successful, then watch out sock world - I'll fear no cuff-down pattern! The other is just another plain stockinette sock. I tried out the magic-cast on and I have to say, I'd heard many good things about this cast-on and it's everything I hoped it would be. I love it! You got a convert there too. Heh.

Best Foot Forward Socks
Oh my Freakin' hell. I started these suckers back on April 28th. Only now have I finished them. I can't believe it took that long. I'm so ashamed. In my defense, they're knit out of KnitPicks Dancing ("Swing" Colorway) on size 1 needles, so yeah, they sucked up the yarn like nobodies business. Once I hunkered down and really put an effort into it, I had the second one done in about 10 days.
Here's detail on the patterning:
I know the yarn competes with the pattern. I kinda lost my mojo on them due to that. But I still liked the way they were knitting up. They fit like a dream!

Flash your Shoe Stash!
And what respectable girl doesn't have a crap ton of shoes to flash? Oh, right, I think DO actually has a respectably restrained collection of shoes if I recall correctly. That'd so give me more storage space if I could cut down. Oh well. So, I decided to join in on this blogstalking thing over on the knitty boards. Not like I don't already stalk at least 75% of the participants, but hey. Once Zib suggested group photo activities I was in. So, the first activity, show us your shoes.
The majority:
The hidden:
The ones I'm trying to keep "nice" because I actually spent good money on them.
And this is why I try to keep the good ones in their boxes.
Why do I have 2 pairs of the same K-Swiss'?
Yeah, he tries to be all anonymous and hide his face. But no, that's Ripple. His favorite scratch post is my K-Swiss. I seriously can't leave them out more than a minute before he has at them. It comes from walking him daily on the leash a couple years ago. He'd be mad when I took my shoes off because it meant we weren't going for a walk. Stinker.
And finally, my favorite summer shoes. I'd live in these 6 months out of the year if I could wear them to work.
My Bjorn sandals. Bought on my cross country trip to Arizona last year with my sister. I got them for 50% off at Nordstrom's Anniversary sale. Score! I love these things even though they give me blisters if I should try and wear them walking for hours at a time. I mean like sight-seeing walking. Ask Trillian and Brightrose. I was not a happy walker about georgetown that day.

Yarn Pr0n Friday X(xx)
Yes! I was able to get some good pr0n shots from the trunk of my car after eating lunch today. Surprisingly good too. So, without further ado, my swag from D.C.
Lorna's Laces Jungle Stripe
This will be Christmas socks for my sister - I had her pick it out. She surprised the hell out of me when she picked this wild colorway.
KPPPM Color P803
For me! Koigu for me! I had such a hard time deciding on just one colorway. I was overjoyed when Trillian gifted me another colorway that I had fawned over as well.
Cherry Tree Hill Supersock in Wild Cherry
Destined to be socks for another sister for Christmas.
Artyarns UltraMerino4
On the left, Color 119. On the right, Color 118
I saw the camoflage color first. There was only one hank. Then I spied the solid green. A thought occured. So I wandered over to Trillian and I said "What would you think if I did opposite matching socks? You know, toe-heel-ribbing on the cuff in one color, body in the other, then the other sock exactly the opposite?" Well, she thought that would be fragging cool as all get out so I went with it.
Online Supersocke in color "Summer"
I have a sockyarn already similar to this, I think, but I'd never seen the OnLine sockyarn before so of course I had to get it. Sheesh, what do you take me for? Someone with restraint?
Classic Elite Yarns "Star"
Destined to be a striped top of some sort. Definitely fitted. It's 99% Cotton and 1% Lycra - very stretchy. I got 4 hanks of orange and 3 of white. And what's that it's in?
A new Lantern Moon Basket I absolutely fell in love with at Stitch D.C. I thought I'd try to save the environment by using a basket to carry home my purchases rather than another plastic bag. Yeah, that's it. The environment.
I also got a 2nd hank of CTH Supersock, but um, there was this shampoo bottle, and it was um, kinda open, and erm, sorta LEAKED ALL OVER THE HANK OF YARN! Thank God it was shampoo. I rinsed it out and hung it up to dry. I simply forgot to throw it in the basket this morning.
So? Whaddaya think? Worth the wait?
Crap
I forgot my camera at work yesterday so I failed to get the yarnographic shots I've been promising all week of the stuff I bought in DC. But, I have a bit of a tease for now. I brought the yarn with me, and hope to get some pics done at lunch, but either way, by 7 or 8pm tonight there'll be true pr0n on the blog. Don't you worry. In the meantime, here's a peek:
That's just what's peeking over the top of the basket. There's more. Oh yes, much more.
Trillian42 gifted me with some freakin' FABULOUS Koigu PPM (as well as some White Chocolate M&Ms!) on Monday. How awesome is she? She'd been hearing me bitch in chat about not being able to get my hands on it here in Charlotte (there's a place about 45 minutes away that I can only get to on Saturdays and haven't been able to coordinate a trip up there yet) and she got this for me to satiate my ever growing hunger to get my hands on some! Thank you, Trillian!
That's all I got for now. I promise proper pr0n soon.

Da na da na na na na - Tequila!
Monday afternoon I met up with Trillian42 and Bryghtrose in Georgetown for lunch and yarn shopping.
Is it any wonder that within minutes of meeting we were drinking? We wandered along the streets of Georgetown at 11am looking for a place that was open for lunch. Who knew it'd be so hard? We lucked out when we spotted the Alamo Georgetown's open door. No, they weren't open yet, but the wonderful Russian waiter was more than happy to let us sit and talk over some water (how did he know we needed to pre-hydrate?) and munch on chips and salsa. It wasn't long before he was ready to let us order lunch, but it wouldn't have mattered. We had a great time just chatting. Of course, there was the matter of beverages. Margaritas all around! Trillian and I went for the "Texas Size" (just a bit more amped up is all) and Bryghtrose stuck with the regular. Something about not wanting to dancing on the table naked. Heh. After our meal, the waiter approached us with the teaser "Ready to try something different?" or something. I can't remember how he phrased it but I said "OF course!". This is how we ended our lunch, me being the fearless Leo, went first:
Then it was Bryghtrose's turn:
And finally Trillian42's
Yeah. We had a great lunch. Just the right amount of alcohol in our system to go yarn shopping.
After feeding the parking meter (thank you, Bryghtrose!) we went to Stitch D.C. and boy, did we strike gold. No, you can't see what I got yet. That's for tomorrow. Yarn Pr0n Fridays, remember?
We even had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Trillian42 - he met us at the yarn shop and boy, is he ever good at supporting his wife's yarn addiction. He actually got on his PDA and tried looking up the yarn requirements for a pattern Trillian had seen recently for a yarn she couldn't stop wandering back to.
I need to see if he has a single brother living in the Charlotte region. Or at least willing to move. I'm worth it. Trust me. Heh. There was so much pretty yarn there. Opportunities for stash enhancement abounded. And I didn't turn them down. Trust me. I was worried for a bit that I was going to be the only one to buy anything. But, being the enabler I am, that was not the case.
Pam got an armload of the yarn she was spying (Artful Yarns Olympic in "Tokyo") and Bryghtrose bought some Stainless Steel Yarn. (That's her "stainless steel yarn woman" look) Yeah, I said "Stainless Steel Yarn". It's from Habu. Amazing stuff. I picture a batwing style lace shawl.
I can't wait to see what she does with it. I really wanted to be able to hang out with them some more, but I really had to get on the road for the long drive back to Charlotte. Made longer by the fact that I got on 495 North instead of South and spent an extra hour going ALL THE WAY AROUND THE CITY to get back to 95 South. Idiot that I am. Gah. But I had a great time and can't wait to kidnap Stephy and drive up there with her for a real visit. Maybe come Labor Day. We'll see. Trillian, better stock up on some homemade tequila!

So Much to Blog About...
And no idea where to start. Boy, do I have a ton of pics to show y'all. As you may have noticed, I've been posting some smaller pics for the stuff that isn't yarnos. I figure it'll help a bit with the page loading and yeah, if you really wanna see a bigger pic, just click. It's all on flickr. Boy oh boy. Where to begin.
So, Saturday morning I get a call from my sister - in D.C. on business from Phoenix - and I had convinced her that I should go up there to visit at least for a day or so while she's on this coast. Yes, I'm gonna see her in a month, but you take your opportunities where you can. Here I would insert a pic from my camera phone if it would connect from this dungeon and let me e-mail to myself. Sheesh. Another time. But anyway, we had fun. I let her play personal shopper for me on Sunday, and I got some nice pieces to add to my warddrobe. I have my final interview today for the promotion I so desperately want to get. And I'm wearing a new chocolate brown suit for it. So there.
Anyway, the original plan was for me to leave early Sunday morning to get there for the afternoon, and then drive back Tuesday. Well, I went to the pool thinking that was the plan, then got a call at 12:30 "um, how about you leave now and we'll have dinner then we can spend all day tomorrow together and go shopping and see a movie or something". So, I ran back to the condo, threw some stuff in a suitcase, and got a knock on my door.
It was the mailman delivering my July Knitty SP7 package! What timing! If he'da came 5 minutes later, it'd be sitting outside my door for 2 days. This thing was heavy. Ya know why? More marble for my garden! 8 more pieces of it! Added to the first chuck I was sent, now I have enough to give my garden a border! Check it out!
Thank you, SP!
I also received some really cool Artyarns Confetti in the - get this - "Girls Rule" colorway. How cool is that?
And then a couple fun things, a July 4th present:
A hilariously cute turtle:
Tippy will provide "hours of fun!" Heh, for some reason that cracks me up the most. Hours. Bah! He's cute though. But the best part of the package by far, was this:
This has been on my wishlist for quite some time. I have it's companion, Knitting On the Edge, and have been yearning to get this follow-up to it. I brought it along with me (how could I not? I wanted to flip through every page!) and I'm glad I did. My sister had a great time looking through it too, and I think it gave her an even greater appreciation for my hobby. That, and it's also given her ideas as to what I can make for her to add to her own warddrobe. Heh.
So, needless to say, I got on the road saturday with a smile on my face thanks to my SP. Sunday I was able to easily (believe it or not) convince my sister to bring me to Knit Happens. I was so very excited for this. I mean, it's Wendy's shop! (No, she wasn't there, hmmph.) And they have Koigu there! And Lorna's Laces! And Cherry Tree Hill! And and and. Yeah, I felt like such a fangirl going in there. But you'll have to wait for Friday for the pr0n shots of what I got. Heh.
Tomorrow, I'll tell you all about the wonderful meetup I had with the illustrious Trillian42 and magnificiently talented Bryghtrose. Be jealous. Be very, very jealous.

Yarn Roving Pr0n Friday the 10th 1st!
I got the most wonderful R.A.K. yesterday. I've been spending more time in chat lately, and lamenting that I couldn't find any roving around her to learn how to spin on. I wasn't sure what to look for online, and didn't want to get anything too extravagent for my first attempts with the drop spindle. The fabulous spinndiva (or just "spin" to the chatters) offered to send me a bit of Corridale Top to learn on. Great. Fab. Wonderful. Well, she didn't send me Corridale. She sent me a giant heap of Swaledale Roving! I have no idea what that means, but it's gorgeous and I had fun taking pics of it for today's pr0n. So, without further ado, the first Roving Pr0n Friday! Thank you, spin!
And a little gift tucked inside as well. A WPI tool!
The entire photoshoot can be seen in the Flickr Set. Please check it all out.
