J is for Jewel
This might be stretching it, but this yarn, knit up, is the most beautiful Jewel I've ever seen. And a heckuva lot softer too. Amy was right. Blue Heron Rayon Metallic DOES make a beautiful Clapotis. Not that I doubted her, but when Amy Singer comes to your blog and makes a comment that the yarn you just showed the world yarnography of, makes a beautiful Clapotis, you make a beautiful Clapotis with it.
So here it is.
Artsy shot:
And here's what's left.
Talk about cutting it close. That is 12.5 inches left. I was sweating it near the end. But I had to have enough. I just had to! I mean, I got out the scales for this project! After the second section, I weighed my yarn ball, and made a note to leave at least that much, plus some leeway, before I started the decrease section. I managed to do, oh, 10 repeats of the straight rows rather than 12, but it's still a good length. I was worried about that too. But I'm so, so happy with the results. Thank you, Amy!

Beauty!! Wow, fast one too.
That is so beautiful!
Very nice. Obviously it was destined for Clapotisness.
It's stunning. It looks so beautiful in that yarn. I love the shades and the wee sparkles. It's very glamorous and the prettiest clap I've seen.
It is beautiful! I love the sparkle to it. Good advice from Amy!
What a beautiful wrap! The sparkles definitely add some extra fun to it! :)
That is an AMAZING Clapotis! Makes me want to run out and buy the same yarn to make one for myself...
i'm definitely in the "what is shiny is good" camp. it looks great.
oh my god.
first, you're making my head explode.
second, since when does anything i say actually make someone go knit something? i'm floored.
third, how the hell did you do that so fast?
fourth, okay, so i was right. :-) but damn, that's a beautiful clap.
mazel tov!
I'M making YOUR head explode? Ahh! 2 comments on my blog! I'm gonna faint. I feel like I did the time that Cat Bordhi actually responded to comment I left on her blog (er website or whatever). I'm humbled.
That is probably the prettiest clapotis that I've seen (and there have been SO many)! It makes me actually want to make it... Great job!
That is so beautiful! Girl you like to cut it close!
Enjoy that jewel!!!
Just lovely! :)
That is the prettiest Clapotis I've ever seen; even nicer than it looks in Lion & Lamb. Great job!
If I had a project where I had cut it that close on yarn, I think I would have to have been hospitalized for high blood pressure! Kudos for keeping your cool and coming out with enough in the end!
Gorgeous! It looked even better in person tonight!
It's goygeous!!!
And damn, you have to be the fastest knitter EVER!
So beautiful. I'm drooling all over my keyboard.
Fab! Yet another Clappy telling me that I MUST get around to making one soon. (Hmmm? Good summer travel-knitting?)
Yes, I'd be exploding, too.
ericah - it is GREAT travel knitting! The pattern is so easy to memorize, and you can put it down and pic it up without a problem.
Wow, it's beautiful! You must love it. And you sure cut it close with the yarn!
your clap is absoultely fab
It's gorgeous!! (Am I the only knitter in the world who has yet to make this pattern?) Certainly your Clap is beautiful inspiration!
Insert drool here!!!!
Wow is that gorgeous, and a perfect drape too. You've inspired me to finish my clappy!
