K is for Kite and Kindness
I coulda gone with big "DUH! K IS FOR KNITTING!" But decided against it. I got the most wonderful R.A.K surprise yesterday when I got home. Not one, but TWO R.A.K packages! Entrelac sent me this:
It's a paper kite! She made it! How fragging cool is that?!? I think I'll be hanging it from the ceiling so it survives. And not only that, but Rachele sent me this:
All because I made her an avatar for the knitty boards! How cute is this thing? I'm going to use it for my handmade stitchmarkers. It's so, so cute! Is it silly of me not to want to take the tag off because it's all cool with it's foreign-language self? Heh.
So that, my friends, is why K is for Kindness. And Kites.
Oh, and Sunday night right before Deadwood aired, I finished these:
I suppose they do look more like stars once they're on the feet. Not too shabby. God I love making toe-up stockinette socks. So fast, so well fitting, and such an obvious use for all this self-striping/patterning stuff I have. The Best Foot Forward Socks from Knit Socks! Are coming along now. Slow, but I'm working on them. I'll probably start up another toe-up stockinette soon though. They make better purse/stop light knitting. What can I say? I'm an addict.

I'm glad you got the package ok and that you like Kame-san (Kame means turtle in Japanese). Your stitch marker idea is a good one!
Great socks; I was wishing I had something like that the other night when I went to see the US play in the World Cup!
The socks look great! When I was in my "LYS" over at the beach in Michigan they had several balls of the yarn - none of the women in there had heard of the "magic" of the stars & stripes appearing. I'll have to give them a try sometime!
I love the yarn - what a hoot!
What a timely post!! Just in time for "K" in the ABC along--and then today (the 14th) is Flag Day and you've got those cool socks. Too freaking cool on all counts!
I'm glad to finally see Entrelac's kite too! ;-)
The turtle stuff is cool, especially the bag, it's so cute.
The socks look fab on the feet too.
I love your turle purse, that is so cute. And pretty nifty socks, too.
That turtle purse is downright adorable. You have to fly the kite at least once. I recommend the Pacific coast, specifically Long Beach. It's very windy for most of the year. Great for flying kites. Although, I realize that it's not exactly convienient for you. Too bad.
Your Americana socks are making me a little patriotic. Time for me to leave. :D
What a terrific RAK day - Love the turtle bag and kite!
That turtle purse is the cutest!! A kite made for you even!
The socks turned out pretty well too! Great job!
