Bigger Isn't Always Better

See? Cascade Fixation Ankle Socks Zonda finally sucked me into her obsession with Cascade Fixation Ankle Socks. They were the perfect answer for socks guaranteed to fit my mother. The stretchiness is almost sure to hug her foot nice and snug so as to ensure no complaints. I know my mother. Plus, they were an obscenely fast knit. If I had worked on nothing else, these puppies would have been finished in less than a weekend. As it was, I did the majority of the foot of the second sock just walking around the Ren. Fest on saturday. Much to the delight of my friend May. heh. She kept saying I must need another drink if I need to keep my hands full. So, with these and the 2 dishcloths I've made so far, this completes my Christmas knitting for mom. But I have a feeling she'll be getting another pair of ankle socks as well. They're so fast and mindless. But before I do that, I have the Rebecca Sweater to put the finishing touches on (the ribbed neckline and arms), a set of Fuzzy Feet for my Sister and her husband, a hat for my other Brother-in-Law and for my Nephew. Then we get into the "non-family" category of Christmas knitting. I need to do a hat for my favorite bartender, a pair of fingerless gloves for my not-to-subtle photographer friend (hey chica, you got a birthday in January, let's stick with Birthday Gifts) and something for her daughter (which I'm sorta working on now but it's a secret) and something for my other friend's 2 kids. And I should probably make something for her too. Damn. Thank God it's still October. I think my list is totally doable. Not too shabby. ANYWAY. Thanks for reading my stream of consciousness there. Heh. Onto other things. A couple weeks ago, KnitMongrel had a contest. I was a runner up, and still won something! I got it on Tuesday and geez louise you'da thought I took first. Check this out. Misti Alpaca Chunky and Lorna's Laces Shephard Worsted. Misti Alpaca Chunky & Lornas Laces Shephard Worsted Lorna's Laces and Misti Alpaca Wow. And wait'll you see what Rosi-G got me at Rhinebeck! Tomorrow, tomorrow, or maybe next week. I can't decide what tomorrow's pr0n shall be. I have many new yarns to pick from. Heh.

wow! what lucky friends and family you have that's quite a list, but you do knit fast, I'm sure you'll get it all done. Can't wait for tomorrow!

Yay! I'm glad you got the yarn and that you like it... I wanted to make sure you got something soft. :) That Lorna's is actually one of six balls I used to make a sweater for my little sister, and it knits up BEAUTIFULLY. Enjoy!!!

How much Fixation does it take to make ankle socks? one or two balls?

I've yet to fall into the trap of the Fixation. I've put balls back on the shelf before purchasing--so I've come close! Those socks are cool. You'll have to tell us what your mom thinks of them.

And hey, it's only October for six more days! ;-)

You went to Ren Fest in Charlotte? How was it? I forgot about it, but our October is jam packed, so there wouldn't have been time. We're holding out for another trip to the event in Atlanta this spring.

I saw the socks when they were wee little babbies, and now they're all grown up and ready to leave home! *sniff* They grow up so fast, the chilluns! *wail*

On another note.. I'm socking!!!! You know the issue of Knitty where your Fetchings were? I saw the Universal Toe-Up Sock Formula wossname. Worsted weight - I have two balls of heathered dark green left over from when I did my pocket shawl so I'm sacrificing them to my First. Evah. Socks. You know, as a test run before I sacrifice the Sockotta. Trying to figure out if I want to incorporate any patterns or just run with a stockinette first.

Mwah!!! I love to convert peeps to the darkside of Cascade fixation!!! Yes folks only 1 ball of yarn (unless you have really large feet over like a size 9 or so)

Turtle, they look great and I really like your cuff. Your prize yarn is gorgeous and both are so soft!

Have a great weekend!! :)
