Just Call Me Prostiturtle

'Cus I'm a happy hooker. Look what Jeanmarie taught me at my Stitch 'n Bitch meeting the other night: I tried to con her into doing the whole thing, but being that she's nice, not stupid - she didn't fall for it. She did start me off, and patiently kept reminding what the heck a double crochet was, and I still screwed it up. But in a good way. You see, this edging is on the Pinwheel Baby Blanket. Sweet, huh? S'done. So, how did I screw it up in a good way? Well, you see, Jeanmarie taught me the shell stitch (and the Happy Hooker helped us both out) and when I took over, I promptly started doing 4 double crochets into 1 stitch rather than 5. So on the second round, I fixed it and did 5, then on the 3rd and final round I decided to do 6. This helped the border increase in size along with the pattern of the blanket, so it worked out perfectly and lays flat. Yay! Ripple approves. You have to be sneaky when he plays though. If he sees you watching him be kitten-like. All fun stops. So I casually looked away, and he pounced: Image Hosted by ImageShack.us And proceded to give that pasta-sauce jar ring thing what-for. That's really, really pretty. Crochet isn't hard, nah! I've been doing it for 11 or 12 years and it's easy schmeezy! *snicker*

That is beautiful! I love the color.

Hey, below is another turtle pattern if you are interested. It is crocheted. The website is a new knitting magazine.

The blanket look gorgeous, a very lucky baby is getting wrapped up it that. And the crochet looks great, I wouldn't have guessed it was your first time hooking!

The blanket is lovely and a gorgeous colour. Your crochet looks really good.

Don't pets play with the strangest things? Scout loves plastic bottles and gets impatient if I'm still drinking from one.

That is one beautiful baby blanket! I just love the detail of the pinwheel and the edging is so pretty! I think that's one detail that is way to often overlooked...the edging.
*sigh* *seeting with jealousy once gain* LOL!

Areli it actually wasn't the first time. It'd just been a good 17 years since I used a crochet hook for anything other than picking up dropped stitches. It felt good! It certainly opened up a whole new world for me!

Thanks, all. It is a nice blanket, and I'd do it again. So long as I can keep it small like this one. lol

What a lovely blanket...gosh, you make it sound like crocheted edging isn't that hard after all!

Awesome job on your blanket...I love it! Great job especially on the crochet edge, that adds so much and I bet it'll help it to lie flat better.

Oh, it sure did Zonda! That's why I did 3 rounds. It was curling so badly when I started, by the third round, I knew it was going to be enough!

That blanket is a treasure. Isn't crochet fun? You just can't go wrong with shells. :-)

What an heirloom treasure! I have to get over my fear of crochet and practice because it really adds a beautiful edge to that blanket.

I'm glad Morris is keeping the world safe from plastic jar rings. You never know when one will turn on you and attack.

Ooo....purty!!! Um, I know it's a pinwheel blanket, but maybe with all the turtle talk, I think it looks kind of like a fancy turtle shell blanket!!
