Leeesa Soooozaaaaaah!

Today's pr0n is brought to you by Blue Moon Fiber Arts and Lisa Souza. But you gotta say that "Leeeesa Soooozaaaaah!" Like the ladies from Lime 'n Violet say it. Ripple thinks I'm crazy because I'll just randomly look at him and say, "Leeeesa Soooozaaaaah!" Heh. ANYWAY. The wonderful Trillian42 sent me a lil something from Stitches East. She saw it and thought of me immediately. I introduced her to the Lime 'n Violet podcast a little while ago. You see, she wasn't a podcast listener but I told her she had to listen to Lime and Violet because they are freakin' hilarious. Y'all should listen to them. Seriously. What a hoot! So, on with the pr0n. Lime 'n Violet Silk Merino Top! Lisa Souza Lime 'n Violet Top Lisa Souza Lime 'n Violet Silk Merino Top Yup. She's making me work for it. Fortunately, I just bought a top whorl spindle and had a refresher course on Tuesday night from Meta Thompson at our guild meeting. (This refresher consisted of me, watching her like a stalker.) But I think I got it. I'll be playing with the Swaledale Roving that Spin sent me this weekend, we'll see how I do. Next up, some Socks that Rock straight from Rhinebeck! The awesome Rosi. G sent this to me along with some KP Classic Circs that she swapped me for some pattern row counters. This is the "Dreidel" colorway in STR Medium Weight. Socks that Rock! Dreidel 2 Socks that Rock! Dreidel Wow. This stuff is gorgeous. Though my luck with sock knitting lately is anything but stellar (more on that this weekend) this yarn really gets me thinking. What pattern does it want to be? What size needles does it want to be knit on? Inquiring minds want to know. Any suggestions?

Score!! Beautiful yarn and top!

I wish I could help you with sock patterns but I am having the same problem with the Koigu and LL I have on hand.

I'm the same way! The colors are so pretty it's hard to find a pattern to complement them. Well other than a simple rib or boring old stockinette!

I hope you have more luck with your spindle than I did! (But then again I never had roving that pretty to work with either!)

I'm considering which spindle to buy at the moment, so please, make sure you tell us how you like yours after you've used it some!

I do love that fiber....

Damn... that does give good pr0n, doesn't it? I'm very, very happy that you like it, m'dear.

And I like the STR, too - nice colors. I used STR Medium in Fairgrounds for my Pomatomus socks, and that worked out well. I'm thinking I used the 2's that the pattern calls for, although in my looseness, I might have gone to 1's.

Helpful, aren't I? :)

I'm with Trillian42 - I started a sock on 2s and it's coming out a little baggy so I need to rip to a couple rows past the cast on (I always do the intital rows one needle size up) and switch to 1s.

The pattern I'm going with isn't so much a pattern as it is a spiral eyelet type thing. Every 4th row I k4, yo, k2t (multiple of 5) and then knit 4 rows and the next row I just move the yo over a stitch. It's coming out really pretty. Shows off the awesome color but ads a little interest (the pasty white of my leg).

I found the pattern somewhere on line, my stitch count may be different than what I found, but I can't claim the idea as my own.

oops... multiple of six.

Hee! I was trying very hard to not spoil the surprise --- I had bought some om the LS super sport Lime & Violet (which I LOVE) but now you get to share in the fun, thanks to fabulous Pam! (I must tell you, I am typing without glasses ot contacts in because I am covering my gray with hair color now and I can't see a damn thing LOL)
...so if this typo city, don't laugh!

Good pr0n, very good pr0n.

*hugs*

Gorgeous!

I love that roving!

I think I need some.

Good luck with the spinning! Swaledale is a long stapled fiber, so I really think you need to keep that in mind when you spin it....take a look at how long each fiber is, and try to keep your hands that far apart when you draft. It will be much easier that way!

Okay backwith eyeballs and yeah, I see typos LOL.... I'm so not the sock person to be asking advice/opinions, but I did see a gorgeous pattern in IK a few issues ago called Embossed Leaves. I'll see if I can find it.

Love the roving!! Glad I'm not the only one who shouts strange things to my cats. I usually yell out "KNIT! KNIT like the WIND!"

The STR colorwas is sooo purty. My next socks will be with STR and I'm trying to figure out what to do too. Part of me wants to do something more challenging so I can show off the colors and part of me wants to do something fast, fast, fast so I can get them suckers on my feet quickly.

WOW that is some seriously gorgeous pron. That top just gleams! And I have been dying, dying I tell ya to get my hands on some STR. Can I be thrilled and jealous at the same time? :P

What to knit with it...how about these Swirl Socks - http://maiaspins.typepad.com/Patterns/SwirlSocksPattern.pdf. More interesting than straight stockinette, but won't deflect from those fantastic colors.

That roving is some gorgeous stuff!
I've never knit with the STR yarn, but I can just about feel the softness through your pictures. Enjoy them both!

Great str colorway! I like the medium on US 1.5 (2.5mm) needles, at 7 sts/inch.

I'm totally coveting that Socks That Rock - gorgeous. And your pictures are always so fantastic... sorry I was late on the pr0n this week, but I came through with time to spare, I promise. :) About the socks - I am having a love affair with the Pomatomus socks from Knitty... haven't knit them yet, but they look so purty! Good luck picking a pattern - can't wait to see what you decide.

Wow, you're spoiling us with the pr0n this week. I can't even read Lisa Sousa without doing it ala L&V.
